The Battlefield
Um, wow, you guys. We did it:
It was an incredibly fun, incredibly crazy experience and I honestly can’t wait to do another. The course was one of the hardest I’ve run and I don’t mean the obstacles. The ground we ran on was muddy and soft, making you work hard for each mile ran. There were steep hills, muddy pits, and it was all on squishy wet mucky ground. We alternated walking and running and completed each obstacle. For me, the obstacles weren’t nearly as physically hard as they were mentally. Crossfit has trained my body to be able to handle the climbing, the rope pulls, the jumping, crawling over cars, etc.
But at the top of those climbs, you’d be 20 feet in the air with only one foot dangling on one side, trying to balance your hand on a 2X4 while swinging the rest of your body over a steep drop, hoping your upper body was strong enough to keep you from falling. And mine was, of course, thanks to the extra work at pullups and pushups I’ve been doing at Crossfit. But there’s that moment at the top where you’re sure you’re going to fall and your heart is racing and your knees are weak and you just have to trust yourself. Put one hand in front of the other, one foot in front of the other, and know that you can do it.
And we did.

That’s Bad Ass! Congrats, it had to feel awesome to finish.
Awesome! I’d love to do one someday. But hey, what happened to the tutus?
We couldn’t find tutus so we bought leis and hula skirts but chickened out wearing them for the race due to fear of catching fire. ;)
Girl, you look FIERCE! Congratulations!
I’ll race with you any day!
That fire-jumping picture is pretty much the best thing ever.
I’m signed up with my BIL and racqetball partner to run the Charlotte race. I need to get my stamina up, I haven’t run a full three miles in quite some time.
I knew about the mud and obstacles, but FIRE?? WTF?!
You are SO freakin’ tough!
Wicked proud doesn’t even start. Ladies you are sexy as all get out in mud. (like, DUDE)
I’m running one this weekend in Mass – I’m not sure if you’ve given me more confidence or scared me more than I already am! I’m not a cross-fitter, but a runner and boot camp go-er.
You look AWESOME!
Found one! I’m doing it. September. Thank you for your inspiration.

Man, you ladies look AWESOME! I’m so sorry I missed it, and I will SO be there with you next year!
You kick ass! And DAYUM are you looking good these days!
So great! I’m trying to get some friends together to do the Upper Midwest race in September.
Wicked awesome! Love the glamor shot at the top of the rope wall.
I’m doing the one in MA this weekend, and hoping that a couple months of Crossfit makes up for my almost total lack of running for the past few months.
You are phenomenal! Think I like that serious black and white photo best, but love them all. You should be so, so proud, girlie!
xo,
Shirley
HA!!! You are HARDCORE Woman!!
That.
Was.
Amazing.
I ran 2.6 miles yesterday (“super run” event at a local marathon) on flat pavement and was a little bit whiny. You two ROCK.
ROCK!!
Bad. Asses. Congratulations!!!
Kick ass! I’m so bummed I had a family reunion this weekend and couldn’t do this with you guys. Why do all the good things have to happen on the same weekend so I have to CHOOSE? Lame.
(GO YOU! Rock on.)
I know I’m like a month behind on actually commenting about this, but I finally got a chance to read about it. I am SO proud…okay, in AWE…of you and your strength! I want to do it next year here in N. Texas when the time comes. I’m determined to be badass enough. Working on some serious upper-body stuff right now to prepare me! I need a good photographer to come with me too – those photos are awesome. You guys look great!
