Spiced Crockpot Cranberry Sauce
This is a slight twist on the plain cranberry sauce found on plates on Thanksgiving and since I used the crockpot and cooked it all day, there was very little work involved. It’s more tart than regular cranberry sauce and sweetened naturally with clementines, applesauce, apple juice, and a little honey. If you prefer it more sweet than tart, simply increase the honey to 1/2 c.
I used mulling spices wrapped and tied in cheesecloth to give it the “spiced” flavor. You can also use a tea infuser. Slow cooking it directly in the sauce flavored it perfectly without overpowering it.
Spiced Crockpot Cranberry Sauce
What you need:
- 1-lb fresh cranberries
- 6-8 clementines, peeled
- 2 c. apple sauce
- 1 c. apple juice
- 1/4 – 1/2 c. honey
- 2 tbsp mulling spices
What you do:
- Put everything in the crockpot on high for 8 hours.
- If you prefer your sauce thicker, take the top off the crockpot in the last two hours to let it reduce better.
