Grain/Gluten-Free Oven Fried Fish Sticks

Disclaimer: These were delicious. They would have been MORE delicious if I could have successfully pan fried them as I originally intended. However, with two kids underfoot, I  had a hard time monitoring the temperature (and this new apartment has a god-forsaken electric range) and it was just easier for me to stick them in the oven.

I used Tilapia filets because that’s what we had in the freezer. I recommend not defrosting the fish and slicing it into the “sticks” while it’s still mostly frozen – it’s way easier.

  1. We recently bought a deep fryer for such purposes. A year ago I wouldn’t have believed I would be deep-frying anything. Now I’ll eat a spoonful of coconut oil just for the hell of it. Take that “artery-clogging saturated fat” jack-asses. I’ve never had such good lipids. So bite it.

  4. Quick question – will any old tartar sauce do? Or is there a specific “paleo friendly” kind?

    • The omega 6 fatty acids in store bought mayonnaise (soybean oil) are not good for you. Making paleo mayo is easy and just look up a recipe to make tartar sauce. It’s actually pretty easy
